      We believe scientific results are meant to be shared. There are 1,586 scientists, engineers, technicians, and support staff working in PMI R&D as of 2023.

       

      Transparency and open sharing of results and methods promote the use of best practices in scientific research, and the resulting scientific publications and presentations are the base upon which science-based discussions are built. As of 2023, we have published 532 scientific publications since 2008. We welcome you to browse our publications library and see the details of our research for yourself.

      Reduced Risk Products ("RRPs”) is the term we use to refer to products that present, are likely to present, or have the potential to present less risk of harm to smokers who switch to these products versus continuing smoking. PMI has a range of RRPs in various stages of development, scientific assessment and commercialization. All of our RRPs are smoke-free products that deliver nicotine with far lower quantities of harmful and potentially harmful constituents than found in cigarette smoke.
