MVS

    MESH Vaping System

Our portfolio includes several next generation e-vapor products, which are battery-powered devices that produce an aerosol by vaporizing a nicotine-containing liquid. Our MESH Vaping System (MVS), initially known commercially as IQOS VEEV, made significant strides in improving the consistency and quality of the aerosol emitted by our e-vapor products. As part of Philip Morris International’s (PMI's) efforts to offer better alternatives for adult smokers who would otherwise continue to smoke, MVS represented an innovative step in e-vapor technology and helped lay the groundwork for more advanced e-vapor solutions, like the Ceramic Vaping System (CVS).

    Innovating on classic e-vapor products

Classic e-vapor products use a wick and coil system to heat a nicotine-containing e-liquid. The wick draws the liquid onto a coil-heating element to heat it and create an aerosol. The temperature of the heater can vary significantly from product to product, depending on their specifications and the duration and intensity of the puff.

PMI’s MVS introduced several innovations that addressed challenges in traditional e-vapor products. It helped ensure consistent heating and reduced the risk of "dry puffs," a common issue in some older e-vapor products in which there is too little e-liquid to properly form an aerosol, and which is typically responsible for forming harmful chemicals.

Since the development of MVS, the vaping landscape has continued to evolve. Today, ceramic vaping technology, such as that found in our CVS, offers an alternative to MVS in achieving a high-quality vaping experience. This next-generation device features a ceramic heater for smoother vapor production and reliable puff activation. Nevertheless, the MESH™ heating technology continues to be state-of-the-art and integrated in some of PMI's disposable vaping products.
