Thomas graduated from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, with a first class honors degree in Science with Business and obtained his PhD in Chemistry from Brown University, Rhode Island, U.S. He also holds a Diploma in Industrial Studies.
He joined Philip Morris International (PMI) in 2005 as a Senior Research Scientist focusing on the development of Next Generation Products*. Since then he has worked in a variety of strategic roles focused on the design, development, assessment, and commercialization of PMI’s portfolio of smoke-free products.
Currently, as the Global Head of Combustion & Product Science, Thomas leads research and development efforts related to combustion and smoke-free products research, ensuring scientific rigor and product innovation.
With over a decade of dedicated research in the field of smoke-free alternatives, his work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and presented at international scientific conferences.
