Head - SFP Product Safety
Anita is Head of Product Safety for Smoke-Free Products, and in this role, she leads the Product Safety team, leveraging her extensive scientific background to contribute to the nonclinical assessment of smoke-free products.
Anita has spent more than a decade at PMI and has expertise in risk assessment, product testing, and assessment strategies. Anita also holds the DABT (Diplomate American Board of Toxicology) certification, demonstrating her qualifications in the field of toxicology.
Anita's scientific interests focus on molecular biology and nutrition. Before joining PMI, Anita carried out research at the Nutrition and Cancer Biology Lab and also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the USDA Jean Mayer Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, which is part of Tufts University, in Boston, Massachusetts.
She earned her PhD in Biochemical and Molecular Nutrition from The Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. Additionally, she is currently pursuing an MSc in Toxicology for Human Risk Assessment from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
